Jeff's Tool Shed: I want my 3D print in Stainless Steel!

Jeff I got a post on my blog with an advertisement of this process. Definitely interested in the results. Thinking about asking them to send me some samples...

    Hi Jeff,
Nice review, but I don't think this is "completely" new. DTM Corporation developed a process called RapidSteel back in the 90's that was exaclty as you describe - binder coated powder infiltrated by bronze.

Do you know who they are using to produce the parts?

I'm also amazed by the prices - back when I was with DTM, even the little rings would have costs $100's (if not $1000's) to produce.

Cool bit of technology here! I could see my company having a use for this since we now pretty much only deal with stainless steel parts.

Bathsheba has been using ProMetal to do this for quite a while now (quite a few years):

And also now available from shapeways:

    Very cool stuff.
