I worked for the Suzuki, Honda, & Nissan factories. They used smart part numbers & it works. The part number IS the BOM. The part number tells you everything about that part; what it is, what it fits, what its made of, what revision it is, etc.
Have the part in hand, you can guess pretty darn close what the part number is. See the part number, you know exactly what the part is (see above).
All these factories have huge part warehouses, arranged by part number. So you can walk into the warehouse & go exactly where the part box is, no map required.
Cheers, Devon

Re: A Repost

I've talked about this topic frequently enough.
I can go ahead and confirm that your press credentials won't get you past the door at the event! However if you'd like I can set you up with the necessary credits to take and pass the CSWE before SWW arrives! You have just under 2 months which should be easy for you!

Re: Cooking with SolidWorks

Thanks, Devon, glad you liked it!.

Re: Cooking with SolidWorks

Awesome post, interesting story. It incorrectly calls versions "revisions", and as you noted, it ends up rolling a revision if you are using it that way. Working copy is dangerous in my opinion, and I don't use it. I use Workgroup solely as a versioning tool and manually add revisions to the versions that are to be released (pretty much the way EPDM works).

EPDM does versioning/revisioning right - you can assign a revision label to a version that is ready to be released.

Re: Creaform – Scan your way to success

Hi, is it true that solidworks can only handle approx 100,000 points of cloud data?

Re: The Man from Down Under

Thanks Jeff
You managed to make sense of my ramblings!
